Rescue Diver Part 1 - Class/Pool
6pm – 9:30pm (3.5 hours)
Scuba Systems
Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is challenging, it is a rewarding way to build your confidence. Rescue Diver training will prepare you to recognize and prevent problems and manage dive emergencies. Many divers say this is the most important and best course they've ever taken. You'll cover:
-Self-rescue and diver stress
-Diving first aid
-Emergency management and equipment
-Panicked diver response
-In-water rescue breathing protocols
-Egress (exits)
-Dive accident scenarios
Prerequisites:
• Advanced Open Water Diver Certification
• Current Emergency First Response Certification (or other agency equivalent including first aid and CPR)
Prior to class:
• Purchase class materials and DVD at Scuba Systems
• Complete reading and five Knowledge Reviews
• Watch DVD
At your classroom/pool sessions:
• You will review the Knowledge Reviews with your instructor
• Session 3 will include a comprehensive quiz
• During the rescue training pool dives you will review and practice a number of rescue skills.

Rescue Diver Dives
Haigh Quarry
The open water rescue scenarios dives pull it all together where you apply the skills you have learned and respond to dive rescue situations presented to you that day by your Instructor.
Required gear:
* Rescue Diver manual, Rescue Diver DVD, Dive Accident Management slate.
* BC, regulator/alternate, computer or gauges and a dive watch, surface signaling device, wetsuit, hood, gloves, tanks, weight belt, weights and a pocket mask.
* A day entry fee to local diving facility (approximately $20).
Recommended materials include the Emergency First Responder Participant manual and the Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving.
Rescue Diver certification is key to achieving your Master Scuba Diver certification and PADI Divemaster levels.

At your Rescue Diver Scenario Session at Haigh Quarry:
• Today is the day you will put together the skills you learned in the pool and class.
• You will respond to dive rescue situations presented to you by your Instructor.
Rescue Diver plus 5 specialty diver certifications and 50 logged dives = Master Scuba Diver. Master Scuba Diver is the highest non-professional rating a diver can achieve.
